Reunion 2003 Information
Reunion #11 - September 3-6, 2003 - Ogden, Utah
The Mountain Rendezvous at Ogden was a great success thanks to our fellow chopper hosts and hostesses. The weather was perfect for the outdoors activities with bright sunny days and cool evenings. Who could ask for more?
Wednesday - The new arrivals eagerly checked in at the Registration Room to see what goodies the hosts had for us and to confirm our tickets for the various events. Then on to the Hospitality Room for a cool one and to meet again with our old friends.

Thursday - With a busy day ahead, many of the folks boarded the buses for a one hour ride to Heber City. There we boarded a steam powered locomotive train for a trip along Deer Creek reservoir and down spectacular Provo Canyon. The train had regular seated coaches plus several open cars that provided an unencumbered view of the beautiful countryside.

The train stopped at Vivian Park where the passengers were treated to a hearty Bar-B-Q meal while the train was turned around for the return trip. About half way back, the train made an unplanned stop because the other train that ran the route had broken down. We picked their passengers for the remaining few miles. Once Rescue, Always Rescue!!

We were about an hour late in returning to Ogden so the folks that were scheduled for the evening Boat cruise on the Great Salt Lake and the evening tour of the Mormon Tabernacle had to rush to make the turn around. Some of us had enough travel for the day and elected to stay at the hotel and visit.
Friday- Today was the trip to Park City to tour the Olympic facilities there. You had a chance to view the ski and luge runs used in the 2002 Olympics. The Golfers also headed out for the golf tournament at Hill AFB.

Friday evening was filled by a tour of the Hill AFB Aerospace Museum complete with lots of airplanes and helicopters on display. A great buffet meal was enjoyed by all along with music by George Kekuna and friends. The bus ride back to the Hotel was kept lively by our driver reciting "Prinderella and the Cince".
Saturday - Saturday morning was filled with the Association business meeting. We had a briefing on the Osprey (CV-22) project by an Air Force pilot that had flown it. We also got a "war story" from a fighter pilot relating his experience of being shot down and then rescued by a helicopter during the Korean War. It was told as only a pilot could tell it and was so entertaining that we asked him to repeat it the evening dinner. Discussion of the next reunion looked like Reno in 2005 with George Livingston as Chairman. The ladies spent the morning shopping at the Gardner Village. Saturday afternoon, K.V. Hall entertained folks in the Hospitality Room with slide shows of Alaskan Dall Sheep and Brown Bear hunting, flying Hughes 500D helicopter in the Uinta Mountains and Moab area of Utah, and 20th Helicopter Squadron CH-3's in South East Asia.
